Edin Martinez-Peralta, age 21, of Stamford, was arrested and charged on Wednesday, Jan. 19, for the crash which took place on Monday, Nov. 22.
According to Sgt. Jeffrey Booth, of the Stamford Police Department, Daniel Esteban Pico was driving his motorcycle on Elm Street on Nov. 22 when Martinez-Peralta made a left turn in front of him and impeded his path.
Booth said that Pico “attempted to stop, but was unable to, and collided with the side” of Martinez-Peralta’s car.
Pico died at Stamford Hospital following the crash.
Police found that at the time of the collision, Martinez-Peralta did not have a valid operator’s license, vehicle registration, or insurance, Booth said.
The night of the collision he was issued a misdemeanor summons for those violations and released on a written promise to appear in court.
Following his arrest, he was held on a $100,000 bond.
The collision was investigated by Booth and Officer Lindsey Yanicky.
